EN-12566 - Explained

The new certification for packaged sewage treatment plants, which serve up to 50 people.

The Construction Products Regulations 1991 require package sewage treatment plants offered for supply in the UK to be watertight, structurally stable, durable, to have sufficient treatment capacity and to offer effective treatment for the development in which it is to be installed.

Manufacturers selling sewage treatment plants in the UK must be able to provide proof that their sewage treatment plants satisfy the criteria laid out by the Environmental Agency.

Only sewage treatment plants or septic tanks which have been tested & certificated under EN-12566 can apply for EPP2 from the Environmental Agency.

If you buy a system from abroad it is likely not tested or certificated to EN-12566 which means it will not be permitted to be used in the United Kingdom.
